The SIR Branch 35 monthly bicycling is a combined activity with other local SIR Branches. The rides are on the 2nd Thursday of each month starting at 11:00 am. Details of our rides and contact information are posted in the monthly SIR Trail Tips Newsletter and in emails to all interested riders. We welcome all new riders (guests, wives, significant others, and relatives).

The objectives of our monthly rides are to continue to promote fellowship, share experiences, get some exercise and above all, have FUN! All that a bicyclist needs are a bike (any bike like a road, mountain, recumbent or an e-bike) and bicycling helmet. We ask that all bicyclists exercise good judgment, stay between our designated lead rider and our sweeper (aka last rider), maintain a safe distance between riders to avoid sudden stops/falls and obey all posted trail signs, city stoplights and traffic signs.

There are 11 monthly SIR Branch 35 biking trails as far south as San Jose, as far north as San Francisco, as far west as Half Moon Bay and as far east as Fremont/Niles Canyon. All rides are between 14 to 20 miles round trip on paved, mostly level biking trails. Some trails have an optional 3-5 mile extension for a longer ride. Bicycling on streets are minimal in clearly designated biking lanes or in quiet, residential neighborhoods. The riding pace is moderate between 8 to 15 mph, depending on the number of riders and headwinds. We can adjust our riding pace for new or avid/fast riders. SIR rides have restroom stops and water breaks. Lunch is at known restaurants at the halfway point of the ride.

If there are any questions, please contact biking co-leads, Gordy Tong or Hank Bottino.

So what are you waiting for? Get on your bike and join us👍!
