Start a New Activity

Tennis, anyone? How about pickleball? Fishing? Whatever you’re interested in, we encourage you to consider starting and leading a new Branch 35 activity. Here are brief guidelines for how to turn your idea into reality.

  1. Write a one or two paragraph description of the activity you want to organize.
  2. Review it with the Activity Director (Interim Ben Gikis) and revise as needed.
  3. Send your write-up to the Trail Tips Newsletter Editor (Pat O’Connor) to solicit interest.
  4. Ask the Big Sir (Peter Wong) to let you speak for 3 minutes at one or two luncheon meetings to stimulate awareness of the proposed new activity, answer questions from members, and get them to join the “interest list” for the proposed activity.
  5. If and when there is sufficient interest, announce a schedule of several months’ worth of events and start working hard to get folks signed up for specific dates.
  6. Contact the Webmaster (John Ray) to have him create a page for your new activity, put a link in the appropriate activity list (Outdoors, Indoors In Person or Indoors via Zoom), and add it to the Activity Calendar page.
  7. Keep promoting the new activity.
