Welcome!  You have found Sons In Retirement (SIR) Lamorinda (Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda)Branch 171.  SIR is a non-profit public benefit corporation for retired men that is tax exempt under IRC 501(c)(4) and comparable California law.  <\/span><\/p>\n

The main purpose of SIR is to provide opportunities to make new friends and to participate in activities we were too busy to enjoy prior to retirement.  Having fun and promoting fellowship are our only goals.  We are not engaged in fundraising.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Membership in Branch 171 is open to men retired or semi-retired from full-time occupation, regardless of age, race, color or religion.  Member volunteers staff, administer and govern all Branch activities.  SIR supports no outside cause or interest. The only requirements to join SIR are that a man (1) be retired, or semi-retired, (2) participate in one or more activities and attend the monthly luncheons, and (3) be sponsored by a current member. Annual membership dues are $35.<\/span><\/p>\n

Branch 171 has monthly luncheon meetings where members renew old friendships and form new ones.  Outside speakers are invited to address topical subjects of general interest.  Branch 171 has a December Ladies Day Luncheon that is recognized as a signature event throughout the community.  Wives, partners, and guests are invited to this festivity just as they may participate in many of the offered social activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Branch 171 sponsors many activities such as golf, computers, book club, investing, walking and bocce ball.  Other activities are accesses through affiliated Branches An extensive travel program is also available to all members and their guests.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Our founders chose the rooster as the official SIR logo to represent the freedom he displays around the barnyard.  We have paid our dues to the business world and now is the time for us to strut and crow a little – or perhaps a lot.  Of all the creatures on earth, none express more independence and dignity with sureness and aplomb than the rooster, whose majestic presence is felt in every barnyard.<\/span><\/p>\n
